Dr Thomas Joseph Coakley  was born on the 27th June 1896 at Poplar Cottage, Enniskeane Co Cork in Ireland. He
read medicine at Cork University. He came to England (Liverpool) in 1920/21 and for a short period practiced from
an address in Park Lane close to George Square. On the 3rd February 1921, then living at 26 Great George Square he
acquired the lease of 30 Great George Square. The original lessee on the 7th June 1905 was a Mr M Heilbron, the
father of the later famous high court judge, Mrs Justice Heilbron.

Dr Michael Joseph (Mick) O’ Donnell  who was born on the 23rd September 1918 read medicine at University College
Dublin. He joined the practice in 1945. Dr M. J. O’Donnell retired in 1988 and died on the 29th January 2008.

Dr Thomas Richard Patrick Coakley (Paddy) was born on the 17th April 1927, the fourth son of Dr T.J.Coakley. He
read medicine at Liverpool University and qualified in the summer of 1951. He joined St James partnership with Dr
M. J. O’Donnell after the death of his father in October 1951. He retired in 1992 and died on the 30th December
1998.

Dr Nagalingim Satchinathanan was born in Sri Lanka and joined the Practice in 1981.  Dr Satchi’ as he was
affectionately known, developed phlebotomy and cervical screening clinics, along with minor surgery and
cryosurgery. He helped move St James Health Centre from the old crippling building of 29 Great George Square to
the purpose built premises of the actual building (30 Great George Square) in the mid eighties. Dr Satchi’ retired in
September 2009.

Dr Tarkeshwar Prasad became a Partner in the surgery after the retirement of Dr O’Donnell.  Dr Prasad soon took
over the heavy workload of an inner city practice and became a highly respected member of the community. He has
been a Partner in the practice for over 25 years

Dr Nigel Antony Chatwin is the latest Partner. He arrived in 2008 and is leading the practice into the 21st century
with the new NHS challenges. His priority is to maintain St James tradition of a Liverpool City Centre Practice and
deliver the best care to its people.

Nigel is born in the USA from a British father and American mother. His family immigrated to Europe in the
seventies and he graduated in the Swiss french speaking city of Lausanne. He read medicine at The University of
Lausanne. He obtained later on a postgraduate Medical Doctorate from the same university. He trained as a GP in
Switzerland and obtained his Swiss Fellowship of General Practitioners before leaving for Liverpool in 2002. He has
since then been working in Liverpool and obtained his Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners and
his Diploma of Tropical Medicine.
